Biographies • Bettie Roets

Bettie Roets is an Education and Training Specialist and mother of 4. Although she holds a graduate - as well as two post-graduate degrees specialising in Education, she has devoted the last 15 years of her life to studying and coaching the sport of swimming. Her coaching and swim teaching career has spanned all ages, ranging from Infants to adults. During this time she successfully coached many Toddlers to become Provincial and National Age Group Record Holders as well as South African Senior National, National and Olympic B-Qualifiers.

As certified Facilitator she is passionate about quality accredited Swimming Teacher training and has spent considerable time pursuing the Swimming Coaches Education systems of other countries including Australia, USA, Canada and Britain. She currently holds a Level 5 Accreditation as International Age Group Coach from the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) equivalent to an Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (ascta) Silver Coach Qualification. She serves in the portfolio of Education & Training on the Northern Tigers Provincial Swimming Federation as well as Swimming South Africa's Technical Committees.

As chair of the Mpumalanga Provincial United School Sport Association Aquatics (2002-2007) she was responsible for the development of Primary - and Secondary School swimming on a provincial level. This included the teaching of swimming as well as training of technical officials to acceptable standards.

    She has now joined forces with Ryk Neethling, the most successful swimmer in South African History.
  • The Aquatic Coaching Qualification Academy™ (Pty) Ltd (ACQA-AFRICA) is their training company that endeavours to deliver quality accredited Swimming Teacher Training not only in South Africa but in Africa as a whole.
